MSc/PgCert Expedition and Marine Medicine (Diving Medicine)

DDRC Healthcare is working alongside Endeavour Medical and the University of Plymouth to create a world-first MSc programme combining Expedition and Diving Medicine.

Description

This new programme has been developed for medics and healthcare professionals with an interest in advancing their clinical and non-technical skills in the fields of expedition, marine and diving medicine.

The University of Plymouth is now accepting applications for 2025 & 2026 entry

Designed for busy professionals, this course offers a variety of pathways with an expedition or diving medicine focus, as a full-time or part-time student. Embark on this exciting journey and lay the foundations for an adventurous future in clinical practice.

The programme offers a variety of modules as either core or elective modules, depending on the pathway chosen. Students can choose from modules including:

  • Remote and Rural Medicine
  • Human Factors in Extreme Environments
  • Marine Medicine
  • Foundations of Diving Medicine
  • Fitness to Dive
  • Diving Accidents

And many more!

For those particularly interested in Diving Medicine this is an opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in this field – including support towards eventually gaining a DMAC (Level 1 or 2D) qualification.

The Chamber Operator course is designed to introduce participants to the design, function and operation of hyperbaric chambers. It will enable individuals to safely operate chambers for therapeutic treatments and research purposes. The standard course duration is 5 days but each course is individually tailored to meet client requirements including international accreditation. This 2 day course is aimed at any doctor with an interest in diving medicine in the UK or abroad, as well as being one of the required qualifications for becoming a HSE Approved Medical Examiner of Divers (AMED). This course should be booked in conjunction with the RCSEd online Dive Medicine Module. Please note this course is delivered in English.
