Medical - ENG1

You must have an ENG 1 (or an ML5 seafarer medical fitness certificate) to work at sea. ENG1 medicals can be booked on this page with our Diving Physician.

Description

Under data protection laws, we are unable to provide copies of medical certificates to anyone other than the named individual attending the medical.  If an employing organisation requires a copy of the medical certificate(s), the named individual must give their permission by completing, signing and returning an Employer Medical Examination Consent Form. You will receive a copy of this form when you book.

Things you will need to know before attending your ENG1 medical.

Please bring with you the following items:

  • Original Photographic ID in the form of a driving licence, passport or seaman’s discharge book.
  • Your most recent ENG 1 certificate if you have one.
  • details of any medication taken, letters or discharge notes issued since your last medical

If you have not had a dental check-up in the last year, have dental symptoms or missing fillings, a dental appointment is advisable before your ENG1 medical.

You will need to avoid exposure to loud noise for 16 hours before attending your medical.

If you wear contact lenses, please do not wear them on the day of your examination.

Be aware you will be required to give a urine sample on the day.

Please arrive promptly, arriving more than 15 minutes late for your medical will result in your medical having to be re-scheduled.

According to the Diving at Work Regulations 1997, in order to dive at work in the UK all divers must have a valid certificate of medical fitness to dive, issued by an HSE Approved Medical Examiner of Divers (AMED). The certificate of medical fitness to dive is valid up to a maximum of 12 months. Choose your date and select register. The next page will show available time lots.

More Information

It is Oil & Gas UK policy that anybody working offshore should undergo medicals to ensure they are medically fit to work offshore. The maximum duration of this certificate is two years and examination is carried out with specific reference to the UK offshore industry. If you require an EBS ‘Fit to Train’ certificate please contact us at info@ddrc.org prior to booking your OGUK medical. The Fit to Train medical will incur an additional fee and cannot be carried out without prior booking.
