The Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) qualification is ideal for those who want to provide Pre-hospital care to patients requiring emergency treatment. As the next step for those who have completed the QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) or equivalent, this Ofqual regulated qualification is the ideal foundation for those who are looking to progress their career in the emergency services, ambulance services, event medical sector or other high risk workplaces.

The qualification is accredited by Qualsafe Awards (the UK’s largest Awarding Organisation for first aid) and is clinically endorsed by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPHC).

Successful Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to be able to deal with a wide range of pre-hospital care emergencies, such as: 

• Adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation 

• Child cardiopulmonary resuscitation 

• Infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation 

• Management of fractures

• Electrocardiogram recognition 

• Assisting advanced procedures 

• Airway management 

• Immobilisation and extrication equipment

• Patient assessment 

• Thoracic trauma and assessment

Prerequisites

Learners must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training.

Learners must have successfully completed the QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) qualification or a QA recognised equivalent before they can begin the QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) qualification.

There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Progression

The QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) qualification may be used towards other qualifications at the same and higher levels, plus aid career progression in a relevant profession.

Requalification requirements

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.
