Summary
This is a Health & Safety Executive approved 4-day course that complies with the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (First Aid) Regulations 1989. Offshore personnel are trained to a standard where they can administer basic First Aid on their own and provide assistance to the Offshore Medic when necessary.
Description
This course has been designed for those candidates who will carry out First Aid Duties in an Offshore Environment. The following are a selection of items that will be covered on the course.
- Infection Control
- Managing Incidents
- Basic Life Support, including the use of the AED
- Airway Management
- Bleeding, Burns & Fractures
- Unconscious casualty
- Heart Problems
- Common illnesses
- Shock
- Hypo & Hyperthermia
- Immersion
- Eye Injuries
- Poisons
- Understanding Transportation of a Casualty, including the use of Helicopters.
On successful completion of this course, candidates will receive a HSE approved and nationally recognised Offshore First Aid Certificate, which will be valid for a 3 year period.
